One of my favorite terms in our IFO collective bargaining agreement is "duty day." As in we have 168 duty days in the academic year. And then, when we have run out duty days, our work is done. With R planning to take advantage of an artist residency at the Kala Art Institute in May, I am looking forward to refreshing (once again) my identity as a scholar. Lots of small projects that I have been thinking about and setting aside; it's time to make some plans. With any luck, I will be staying at a pleasant condo in Berkeley full of peace and quiet (except for those 1 a.m. Amtrak visits).
